FAQs

Who is the ideal client?

Private sessions are best suited for individuals with at least an elemental level of experience using their voice — whether through singing or speaking — who are interested in developing their voice through ongoing work.

For workshops, classes, and courses, individuals with an interest in singing or speaking — whether as a hobby, vocation, or area of curiosity — may find these offerings to be a wonderful introduction to vocal development.

Do you work with beginners?

Yes. Individuals at a variety of experience levels are welcome. However, private sessions tend to be most effective for those who have at least some familiarity with using their voice through singing or speaking.

What styles of voice work do you specialize in?

My work primarily focuses on contemporary voice use, including commercial music styles and contemporary musical theatre. However, the principles explored in sessions can apply across a wide range of vocal contexts, including singing, speaking, and performance.

Do I need to start with an Orientation?

Yes. New clients begin with an Orientation before scheduling Practicums or other ongoing sessions. The Orientation allows us to discuss your goals, hear your voice, and determine the most appropriate direction for your work moving forward.

What happens in an Orientation?

An overview of the Orientation process can be found here. Additional details will be provided in your confirmation email after scheduling.

Is there an age limit for voice training?

Yes. Individuals must be at least sixteen (16) years old to schedule private sessions.

How often should I schedule sessions?

Frequency varies depending on your goals, schedule, and the nature of the work. Some clients meet regularly, while others schedule sessions as needed. This is something we can discuss during your Orientation.

How quickly will I see improvement in my voice?

Voice development varies from person to person. Some individuals notice shifts in coordination or awareness quickly, while deeper technical development often takes time and consistent exploration. The pace of progress depends on a variety of factors, including experience, goals, and the frequency of work.

Do you assign vocal exercises or practice work between sessions?

Depending on the nature of the work, clients may receive exercises, exploratory tasks, or listening suggestions to continue their vocal development between sessions.

Is there anymore information about private sessions?

Yes. Additional information about private sessions can be found here.

Can my voice be analyzed?

Yes. Voice analyses are offered through Audits and Digital Audits, depending on the format you prefer. Both provide focused feedback on the voice, with the primary difference being whether the analysis is conducted live or through submitted media.

What happens in an Audit?

An overview of the Audit process can be found here. Further details will be provided in your confirmation email after scheduling.

What is the difference between an Audit and an Digital Audit?

Audit: A scheduled meeting time to listen or watch you use your voice and gain feedback in real time.

Digital Audit: Feedback delivered through a recorded video response based on audio or video you submit. No live meeting is scheduled.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Private sessions are currently conducted online through Google Meet. In-person sessions are offered periodically through The Teaching Tour and other special events.

What do I need to prepare for a session on Google Meet?

Preparation guidelines and session parameters will be included in your confirmation email after scheduling.

Are requests for analysis or reaction videos accepted?

Yes. Requests may be submitted by tagging Jaron in the comment section of a video on social media. Many suggestions are received and appreciated, though not every request can be fulfilled.
